Nuova Galleria Morone presenta Man, Forgotten, una personale di Alec Von Bargen.
In questo progetto, dal titolo molto incisivo: Man, Forgotten (Uomo, Dimenticato) presentato per la 56a Biennale di Venezia, l’artista Alec Von Bargen si immedesima come un contemporaneo Amleto, ponendosi in maniera autobiografica attraverso un dialogo di crescita speculativa con se stesso.
Nel suo lungo girovagare nel mondo Alec von Bargen ha sempre posto l’uomo al centro della sua ricerca artistica: dapprima con la serie “The long walk home” esposta alla 54a biennale di Venezia che volgeva lo sguardo al tema sempre attuale dei rifugiati; successivamente con “Veritas Feminae” – esposta in numerose parti del mondo – ha dato voce – sempre attraverso immagini forti e cariche di tensione – alle donne ‘emarginate’, rispolverando anche delle figure archetipe.
Con questo nuovo progetto colloca al centro se stesso, ma allo stesso tempo pone al centro ognuno di noi. Man, Forgotten fondamentalmente è un dialogo interiore: il “fanciullo” prende consapevolezza dell’essere diventato uomo, è un continuo dipanarsi lungo i tre assi dell’esistenza: il cielo, l’uomo e la terra.
La grande madre terra, dalla quale tutto nasce e alla quale tutto ritorna. Il corpus fotografico ed installativo coinvolge lo spettatore attraverso una figura solitaria – che può essere chiunque di noi – in un vasto paesaggio quasi irreale, ma al tempo stesso palpabile essendo naturale. Man, Forgotten é un progetto concepito nella piena maturità dell’artista, identificando se stesso al centro della propria ricerca. Alec Von Bargen con il suo lungo peregrinare nel mondo, fondamentalmente intuisce che il vero luogo sicuro nella vita é se stesso, attraverso una crescita ed una maturità interiore. Se ci ponessimo – anche noi – nei panni dell’artista capiremmo che il mondo è immenso, siamo circondati da tante cose, ma spesso dimentichiamo che il mondo siamo noi stessi ed ognuno di noi ha bisogno di ri-scoprirsi.

Alec Von Bargen, compie i suoi studi artistici in messico presso la scuola Iberoamericana, vive e lavora ad Akumal, Mexico.
Fin dall’inizio della sua carriera ha partecipato a numerose mostre collettive e personali in diverse parti del mondo e le sue opere hanno vinto alcuni tra i principali concorsi fotografici di rilievo internazionale, quali Px3 Official Prix de la Photographie, POLLUX AWARDS – Fine Arts, International Celeste Prize, International Photography Awards di Los Angeles e molti altri. Ha partecipato alla 54° edizione della Biennale di Venezia ed è stato più volte invitato al Festival Internazionale di Fotografia di Arles, ha partecipato nel 2010 ad una collettiva presso il Victoria & Albert Museum e ha recentemente esposto recentemente all’OCT Museum di Shangai.

Nuova Galleria Morone presents Man, Forgotten, a solo show by Alec Von Bargen.
For this series, incisively titled: Man, Forgotten (Uomo, Dimenticato) presented at the 56th Venice Biennale, artist Alec Von Bargen identifies himself as a contemporary Hamlet, placing himself in an autobiographical manner through an intimate, personal dialogue of speculative growth.
In his eternal wandering, Alec von Bargen has always placed the human being at the center of his artistic research: from his series “The long walk home” exhibited at the 54th Venice Biennale which brought light to the ever current discussion about refugees and displacement; subsequently in his series “Veritas Feminae” – shown in numerous museums and galleries worldwide – he gave voice – always through his strong images full of tension – to ‘marginalized’ women, touching even upon archetypal figures.
With his new series he manages to place himself at the center, while at the same time also placing each one of us there with him. Man, Forgotten is fundamentally an inner dialogue: the child becomes aware of having become a man, it is a continuous unraveling along the three planes of existence: the sky, man and the earth.
Great Mother Earth from which everything is born and everything returns. The body of photographic and installation work engages the spectator by means of the solitary figure – which could be anyone of us – in vast, almost fictitious landscapes, yet at the same time, because they are natural they become palpable. Man, Forgotten is a project conceived in the full maturity of the artist, identifying himself as the center of his research. Alec Von Bargen throughout his continuous pilgrimage through life fundamentally realizes through growth and an internal maturity that the only true safe-haven is within. If we were to walk in the artist’s footsteps, we would come to the realization that the world is immense and that we are surrounded by so much, yet we often forget that each of us is the world itself and that we all have the need to rediscover ourselves.

Alec Von Bargen, born in New York, completed his artistic studies in Mexico City at the Iberoamericana University. He currently live and works in Akumal, Mexico. Since the beginning of his career he has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions worldwide and his photographs have won awards at some of the most important international photography competitions, like the Px3 Official Prix de la Photographie, POLLUX AWARDS – Fine Arts, International Celeste Prize, International Photography Awards of Los Angeles and many more. He participated at both the 54th and 56th Venice Biennale’s and has shown several times at the Arles International Photography Festival. He has recently shown at the OCT Museum in Shanghai and a group show at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
